The San Diego Padres agreed to an 11-year, $350 million contract extension with Manny Machado over the weekend not long after Machado said he was planning to opt out of his contract with the team. Ben Maller gives the deal a letter grade for both sides and gives the Padres surprisingly high marks.
Ben Maller: "I give the Padres a 'C-' and the main reason why I'm giving the Padres a 'C-', is because they continue to make a mockery of MLB supposedly poor teams. They are ruffling feathers. Shout out you scumbags at the Oakland Athletics, and the Cincinnati Reds, and the Pittsburgh Pirates, and the Miami Marlins, and the Orioles, and the Rays, and all these penny pinching frauds."
