Doug Gottlieb: James Dolan & the Knicks Were Right to Pass on Kevin Durant

Will New York passing on Kevin Durant pay off?
Doug Gottlieb: “The New York Knicks may have just done the smartest thing they’ve done in a long time. Go back and through the Knicks history. Cuttino Mobley: heart problem, Amar'e Stoudemire: terrible knee, Kristaps Porzingis never recovered from the knee injury, Penny Hardaway was not the same player due to age… You’ll start thinking James Dolan might actually be doing the right thing.”

Listen to Doug Gottlieb explain why he thinks the New York Knicks dodged two bullets by balking on the opportunity to sign superstar free agents Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

The Knicks have often been labeled one of the most incompetent franchises in North American sports the last two decades as the team has been synonymous with pathetically losing in comical fashion, but Gottlieb actually thinks James Dolan and crew just made the best decision they’ve EVER made.

Check out the audio below as Gottlieb discusses why the hype around Durant was always overrated given the severity of his Achilles injury, and added that it’s no accident that Kyrie has suddenly found himself at the top of the league's most untouchable list after his messy exodus from Boston yielded a lot of shortcomings into his ability to lead a locker room.
