Pro Football Doctor Explains When NFL Players Can Return From COVID-19

Clay Travis: “What is the shortest amount of time that you have seen that somebody can go testing positive for COVID, to testing negative and being able to play?”
Dr. David Chao: “Right now, depending on when you test positive, you’re going to miss about one game. Cam Newton in theory could have missed two games, but then they got the schedule changed and got the bye for the Denver game. Otherwise, he would have missed it. Now he’s going to play. It’s about 10 or so days. Ten days from when you test positive plus one. So a little under two weeks, but it depends on the timing. Early week, you’re going to miss one game, and later in the week you’re going to miss two.” (Full Segment Above)

Listen to Doctor David Chao, a former team physician for the San Diego Chargers for 17 seasons, join Outkick the Coverage to discuss the NFL’s wave of positive COVID-19 tests, and what fans should expect to see when some of their favorite players test positive.

Check out the segment above as Dr. Chao details to Clay Travis what the time frame entails for positive tests, and also discusses what the NFL will potentially do if positive tests start to become more frequent around the league, and putting even more games in limbo.
