LEVEL 1 Driving Warning in Effect
Governor John Carney has issued a Level 1 Driving Warning for Kent County and New Castle County. The Level 1 Driving Warning will remain in effect until further notice.
A Level 1 Driving Warning means:
- Any person operating a motor vehicle shall exercise extra caution in the operation of their motor vehicle.
- Motorists are encouraged not to operate a motor vehicle on the State's roadways unless there is a significant safety, health, or business reason to do so.

DART is suspending all bus service in Kent and New Castle Counties at 6 PM on Wednesday, March 21! DART riders can also subscribe to Rider Alerts and DART news at Delaware Notification Service (find DART under DelDOT).
DOVER AIR FORCE BASE UPDATE
Due to inclement weather, 21 March day shift MEL 2 & 3 personnel are released at 2 p.m. Swing and Mid Shift Emergency and MEL 1 personnel will report as normal unless otherwise directed by commanders. Expect normal reporting starting day shift, 22 March.
STATE OF EMERGENCY for STATE OF DELAWARE

Governor John Carney yesterday issued a State of Emergency statewide authorizing the Delaware National Guard to assist state and local officials with any necessary response and recovery for this winter storm effective midnight on Wednesday, March 21, 2018.
The authorization will allow the National Guard to mobilize resources to assist with response related to heavy snow in New Castle County, and potential coastal flooding in Kent and Sussex counties. The State of Emergency also directs state agencies to assist in response and recovery efforts in coordination with the Delaware Emergency Management Agency.
The State of Emergency will remain in effect until further notice.
State of Delaware offices in New Castle County will be closed Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Non-essential employees who live or work in New Castle County are not to report to work for this period. Essential employees are to report as scheduled.
Throughout the storm, motorists may monitor real-time conditions, snow plow activity, and traffic cameras by using DelDOT’s Smartphone application.
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORECAST
A Winter storm warning is in effect until 2am Thursday for: northern, central and southern Delaware, portions of southwestern and southeastern New Jersey, southeast Pennsylvania, northeast Maryland, Maryland's lower eastern shore, inland Sussex and the Delaware beaches.
- Expect heavy snow at times, mixed precipitation, snow accumulations of 8 to 12 inches (New Castle County), 4 to 10 inches (Kent County) and 2 to 5 (Sussex County)
- Travel will be difficult to impossible at times especially during the evening commute on Wednesday.
- Snow could fall as much as an inch an hour from late this morning through the afternoon.
- Widespread power outages could be expected
Today - snow - heaving at times HI 33. Windy, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Daytime snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches possible.
Tonight - snow tapering off around 10pm LO 30. Blustery with gusts as high as 31 mph. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
Wednesday - snow - heavy at times HI 34. Windy, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.
Wednesday Night - snow tapering off around 11pm LO 30. 16 to 24 mph winds, with gusts as high as 34 mph. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches.
Today - rain, snow, and sleet mix before 12pm, then rain and snow after 3pm. The snow could be heavy at times. HI 36. Windy, with gusts as high as 36 mph. Daytime snow and sleet accumulation 1 to 3 inches.
Tonight - snow tapering off around 11pm. LO 31. Blustery, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Snow accumulation 1 to 2 inches.
State of Delaware (Kent County offices) - closing at 12pm today through 11:59pm 3/21/18. Non-essential employees who live or work in Kent County are to leave for the day at noon. Essential employees are to remain at work and report as scheduled.
