In a recent episode of Pop Culture Weekly with Kyle McMahon, I sat down with the stars of the hilarious and heartwarming film About My Father - David Rasche, Anders Holm, and Brett Dier. The film, which is based on Sebastian Maniscalco's life and relationship with his father (played by Robert De Niro), has garnered rave reviews for its touching story and exceptional cast, including De Niro, Leslie Bibb, and Kim Cattrall (See my interview with these two riotously talented ladies here).

During the interview, the three actors discussed their experience working on the film, the chemistry among the cast and their favorite moments on set. They also touched on the responsibility of portraying characters based on real people and the universal appeal of the film's themes of family and culture clashes. When asked about the chemistry among the cast members, all three actors agreed that they felt like a real family while filming. Holm (Workaholics, The Muppets Mayhem) mentioned that they frequently had dinner together and that everyone in the cast clicked well. Rasche added that everyone was "wonderful to be around."

The actors also discussed the challenge of portraying characters based on real people. Dier (Jane The Virgin, Schooled) admitted that he didn't find out his character was based on a real person until the third day of shooting, while Holm found out during the filming process. Despite this hysterical fact, they all agreed that they would not have played their roles differently if they had known from the beginning.

As for their favorite moments on set, Rasche (Succession, Sledge Hammer!) shared a particularly funny moment when Robert De Niro won a prize during a particularly funny scene. The actors also mentioned the improvisational element of the film, which allowed them to develop their characters and create memorable scenes.
