Man Suing Attackers, UD Fraternities For 2018 Party Assault

(Newark, DE) -- A Newark man is suing his attackers and fraternities at the University of Delaware for his assault at a party last year. Rancel Valdez was beaten at a party along North Chapel Street while he was waiting for his friend. The four attackers, who Valdez said confronted him over his sexuality, broke his leg while repeatedly slamming him into the ground. The personal injury lawsuit requests damages for impairment, fear, and medical bills from two UD fraternity chapters as well as the attackers. The four, which include Adam Taylor, Nicholas Poluch, Matthew Vincenti and Daniel Weimar, all pleaded guilty to third-degree assault.
