Sen. Graham: Possible Shutdown Breakthrough

South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham believes there could be a possible breakthrough in ending the U.S. government shutdown as early as tonight.

The Republican said today he thinks at least five more Democratic senators are agreeable to a proposal to end the shutdown.

"I believe that what will happen is that if we work together, we'll find a solution," Graham said.

He's hopeful Democrats will agree to a three-week spending bill to fund the government through February 8th with a commitment to work in a bipartisan fashion on all other outstanding issues, including immigration.

"Come February 8th, I think we need a commitment that we're going to go to immigration to get this issue solved once and for all," he said. "I hope the White House will come on board, but the Senate needs to lead 'cause no one else is."

He praised House Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for proposing to work on those issues after the government has reopened.
